In April of 2024, I decided to take on a new challenge. Yoga Teacher Training.

Over the past twenty years or so I practiced yoga sporadically. I always felt amazing after practicing and found it to be the perfect complement to my cardio activities. But like many people with busy lives, I always prioritized cardio over yoga.

Now that I am post-career (a.k.a retired !) and have the luxury of time, I felt that Yoga Teacher Training would be a great way to deepen my practice, challenge my brain and find connectivity with a community of like minded people.

At the start of this journey I had little knowledge of the history of yoga or the various styles. I jumped blindly and chose the Yoga studio that was closest to me with an amazing reputation: Energie EnCorps in Pointe Claire, Quebec (Canada).

What I had yet to fully understand was that Energie EnCorps is an Ashtanga inspired studio. Ashtanga is considered to be the root of modern yoga. From a physical perspective, it is one of the most rigorous styles you can practice. From a historic perspective its philosophy and lineage run deep.

This Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) is a 200 hour commitment spanning 12 months. We meet each month for two full days. In between our YTT weekends, we have individual practice, homework and studies.

We also leverage our “Sangha” (our community of teachers, mentors and peers) for motivation and support in progressing via Mysore and  teacher led classes in addition to small group mentor led sessions. So far it has been an amazing, enriching experience and I am loving the Ashtanga !!
