I gave it up in December of 2023 and haven’t looked back. See below for my three reasons to give up alcohol for the holidays.

 Be your best self

Imagine how great you will feel to wake up fresh each morning with the energy to take on the holidays, with no after effects from alcohol.

For me, the combination overeating, alcohol and staying up late always took a toll. I would not sleep well, I would get headaches, I would feel a bit nauseous. I was definitely not my best self. Sometimes I would wake up thinking, OMG did I really say that ?! Ok that sometimes still happens without alcohol LOL !

I am a bit of an introvert, so I worried that by going alcohol-free I’d be less animated or fun in social situations. But with a clear head I was more present, more aware and more thoughtful of others. I find it the best way to appreciate friends and family, and create long lasting memories.

Have a positive impact on others

It can be so rewarding to see your actions having a positive impact on others.

We’ve all seen the ripple effect of Dry Challenges. Like many, I choose to go alcohol-free as a healthy lifestyle choice. It was an easy decision and one I’ve had no trouble continuing.

But for some it may not be that easy to give it up or continue. Your healthy choice may just be the support or nudge they need.

Get a healthy head start on the New Year

I like a good challenge. Going alcohol-free during the holidays versus after the holidays for me is the true challenge.

Starting in January seemed too easy, the celebrations are over and there is less exposure to alcohol. So I thought why wait till January to give it up? If I can do this now… imagine what I can do in the New Year?

In January getting back into my fitness routine and healthy eating was so much easier.

It is truly empowering to have a head start on your Wellness goals.  Give it a shot ! You won’t regret it, and you might just choose to stay alcohol-free for good like I did.
